“What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic’s wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic’s highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country’s most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths – until the day June’s brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family’s survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias’s death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.”

This book….oh my god this book was amazing! Before I actually bought this book, I had seen it at the bookstore every time I went there. I don’t remember why I never bought the book, but I’m so glad that I finally did!! Legend was full of so many twists that I just didn’t know what to expect. Usually when I read books I can predict what’s going to happen, but with this book I was thoroughly shocked. And the ending! I was so mad at the author! I literally was crying because of what happened. I won’t say anything other than that because I don’t want to give it away, but it just made me so upset.

The characters in this book were so amazingly written, it’s hard for me to even think that they’re book characters. When Metias was killed I wasn’t really affected by his death at first, but as the story progressed, I began to grow really upset that he had been killed. As June starts to discover things about the life she knows, I started to really become attached to the characters. I felt bad for June because she lost her brother who she was extremely close to. And Day was just…he’s Day. He’s a very different character, which I really liked. He’s been through some stuff and I really just liked him as a character.

The world of this book was insane! Like it was so realistic for me. I could actually picture the world being like that in the future. The story was really thought out and well written and it had me crying and laughing and it made me angry at times, too! But overall, the book was way better than I originally expected and I’m so happy that I bought it! Overall, I give this book 5 out of 5 creamers.
